Texas is divided into 35 districts, and each district elects one person to the House.

What does the US House of Representatives do?
How does it affect me?
The U.S House of Representatives is one half of the Legislative Branch of Congress. If you remember, power in the U.S. Government is divided among the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. The U.S. House of Representatives is the lower half of the Legislative Branch, and is the companion to the U.S. Senate. That's why we refer to our Legislative Branch as being bicameral, or split between two groups just like a bicycle has two wheels.
The House of Representatives has some responsibilities it doesn't share with the Senate, including electing the President in case of an electoral college tie and initiating a Presidential Impeachment. This isn't the last step though, the Senate still has to hold an impeachment trial to officially convict a sitting President. This has only happened three times in U.S. History with Andrew Jackson, Bill Clinton and most recently Donald Trump. All three were acquitted by the Senate, but former President Bill Clinton still chose to leave office.
