The Sheriff's Office is the county-level law enforcement agency.
The sheriff is the executive officer of the county and district court. The sheriff manages and operates the county jail, provides security for the courts, serves warrants and civil papers, and enforces criminal laws.
Since most cities have their own police, the sheriff is more active outside of cities that have sufficient police forces. The Harrison County Sheriff is responsible for all municipalities and unincorporated communities in Harrison County. The Sheriff can also appoint deputies, which function like county-level law enforcers.
The Harrison County Sheriff does not regulate bail bondsmen. That is the roll of the Harrison County Bail Bond Board.
Sheriffs are elected every 4 years. There is no limit on how many times you can run for sheriff.
