What do County Commissioners do?

How do they affect me?

The 4 County Commissioners, together with the County Judge, form the Commissioners Court, which manages the county government.

Sometimes this looks like being your point of contact when you hit a pothole on a county road or bridge that isn't part of the state highway system. But they also work closely with new housing subdivisions, and are part of who decides where public county buildings can be built.

It's the county commissioners court you appeal to when you're concerned about a statue or plaque on county property. They also adopt the county budget, tax rate, can fill vacant county offices and approve county budgets.
