What do County Chairpersons do?
How do they affect me?
County Chairperson is a party office, not a government office. So to vote for the County Chairperson of your party, you must be registered as a member of that party. Registered Republican's can't vote for the Democratic Chairperson, and vice-versa.
The County Chairperson serves as leader of the local party in each County, so there is a representative for Texas Republicans in Harrison County, and a representative for Texas Democrats in Harrison County.
The County Chair oversees the Primary, candidate filing, chair County Executive Committee Meetings, and lead the local party. So, if you're interested in running for office, you should make time to meet with your local County Chair.
